Hastings Air Force Station, Abandoned 1968, Hastings NE, May 7, 2011
Gotcha!
At the filling station this morning, I punched the button for the lowest grade, started pumping, then noticed the price was $0.15 higher than advertised. Grumbling I quite the fill-up. It seems the Lowest price is for the mid-grade. By a lot. That's deceptive I concluded. Later I continued my fill-up at a station of another brand in another town, Hastings NE, and surprise surprise the same pricing scheme holds. What gives?
DLD State Recreation Area
What a neat find. A tiny little recreation area with a few nice level spots to camp. And unused and unmaintained at that. My kind of place. Much quieter than one of Wally's parking lots and the same price at that - $0.00.
And the dandelions are fresh! Yum.

More Toward Realism than Fantasy
I've always been drawn more toward realism than fantasy, because it seems to me that realism is endlessly interesting and finally indeterminable. Realism is a species of fantasy that's much more integrated and hard-core than fantasy itself, but if you are ready to come to grips with the inevitable slipperiness of most available facts, you come to recognize that realism is not a direct approach to the truth so much as it is the most concentrated form of fantasy.
