Hard times in the desert
This little corner of the Chihuahuan Desert seems to be extraordinarily dry. Too dry for cactus at least. A large percentage of the cactus here are either dead or seriously wilted. Something has changed - many of these are very big plants.

Our Peripheral Existence
Being a minority in both caste and class, we moved about anyway on the hem of life, struggling to consolidate our weaknesses and hang on, or to creep singly up into the major folds of the garment.
