LD at Gum Springs Recreation Area west of Winnfield, Louisiana, January 8, 2007
With all due respect for Texas and Texans, I find the scenery in Texas to be generally a bit too scrubby (or is that shrubby) for my taste and I've decided to ignore my 40 mile per day budget and get Texas largely behind me. I'll spend time sitting still in New Mexico to try and get back on budget. I do want to check out Donald Judd's museum in Marfa, Texas on my way to New Mexico so I'm heading that way .
I was going to stop at the Wal-Mart in Brady, Texas but the store is not a super store and I didn't feel comfortable there (a new new super store is under construction next door - in a nice brown & tan color scheme) so I decided to continue on to San Angelo TX. I ended up at the new super store at the north end of town (also brown & tan).

It's Time to Go Home
The truth about nature is that she is inside us, all around us, just waiting for us to ask her what to do. The truth about civilization is that it was an honest mistake, an invention that was necessary at the time, a mere 30,000 years ago, when nature appeared to be letting us down and we thought we could do better. But now it has outlived its usefulness, and is out of control, and threatens the survival of all life on our planet, so it's time to let it go. It's time to move forward and imagine and invent a new culture, a sustainable one that works for all creatures on Earth, drawing on the best learnings from nature and the best innovations from civilization.
It's time to go home.
