Husqvarna Model 266 Chainsaw

I bought this saw way back in 1987. It has served me well. It has good power, handles nicely, and was reliable until cylinder wear broke through into a sand casting hole in the cylinder wall. A new cylinder and piston fixed that little problem and the saw runs as good as new.

I bought this saw on 7/2/87 from Brook Cove Marine (Rt 66 south of Chatham NY) for $530.00.

• with Husqvarna oil 1/50 (5oz per 2 gal)
• with regular 2 cycle oil 1/25 (10oz per 2 gal)
  • I use 8oz per 2 gal

Cylinder Replacement Parts

I bought the parts to replace the defective cylinder and piston from Columbia Tractor (Rt 9H, northeast of Hudson NY) on April 2, 2003. It was a simple straightforward rebuild that only took me an hour or so once I had the problem diagnosed and the parts in hand.
